True Believers eBook Doug Richardson Reviews
This is one the best books I have had the joy of ever reading. You will pick your jaw up off of the floor. Be ready to stay up all night - the characters are riveting and complex. The storyline, while on the brink of unreal is edgy enough to make you think twice. DO NOT PASS THIS BOOK UP> I will purchase anything this man writes, sight unseen.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It combined the excellent read of a Grisham or Patterson with a higher level plot. The ending in this book is among the most satisfying I've ever read. Too often, an author will keep me excited until the last 50 or so pages, but then plod toward a predictable ending. This one, however, brings things to a close with some very well thought out plot twists. Outstanding.
This is really a good book. I was hooked from the first and didn't want to put it down. The story was creepy and also very suspenseful right to the last page. I didn't want it to end. This is a MUST READ for avid readers.
I loved "Dark Horse" so I had to read Doug Richardson's latest and I wasn't disappointed. It was a long story but it kept me turning pages furiously to see what would come next. For the most part the characters were good, but lacked full development. The plot was a little wild, but having said that; I loved the way the book flowed and kept me rapt. The ending was a little soft for this intense of a plot--but I enjoyed it anyway.
"True Believers" is neatly woven and compelling with a fabric populated by real people caught up in lives and a political arena that is all too real...
As an avid reader and a (screen/t.v.) writer for over twenty years "True Belivers" captured my attention totally. I couldn't put it down until I finished the last page.
It is a taut, suspenseful rollercoaster ride, filled with people and a political arena that are so well etched you're hooked from page one; pulled into lives that smack with such reality you forget that you're reading a book and become a voyeur watching characters grow and change as they reveal intimate moments.
It was like peeling a grape. Each layered chapter brought forth the bitter-sweetness of life and left you with an aftertaste for more long after the book is finished.
Filled with such subtlety and foreshadowing, the book demands a second read, so that one can catch the almost visceral nuances missed in the first enthralling pass.
To most observers, Senator Will Sullivan and his spouse Gwen seem to have it all. However, both still have life goals to accomplish. Will wants to become the president, while Gwen wants to become a mother. Will has stepped closer to attaining his ambition. Gwen has failed, not appearing to get any closer to her desire.
Wesley Dean Theroux resides in prison where he runs his disciples via a computer. Wesley believes he is the messiah. His crew arrange for his semen to be artificially planted inside Gwen. The disciples kidnap Gwen and Wes' plan to impregnate her goes off without a hitch. Unable to obtain any help in rescuing his spouse from his so-called political friends, Will mounts his own rescue mission though it will cost him a vice presidential nomination and perhaps his life.
To be a TRUE BELIEVERS in this plot, readers will have to suspend all logic. First, one must accept the premise of a senator turning into a vigilante lone ranger. Second, one must ignore a death row inmate using a personal computer that has unlimited access. After those leaps and a few minor hops, the audience will enjoy an exciting thriller that will remind readers of The Omen (part 1). Doug Richardson provides a tension-packed thriller that fans who take pleasure in non-stop action will enjoy, but first they must learn to do the triple jump.

Awesome story. Would have loved to have seen Doug's script since he wrote the screenplays for Bad Boys, Die Hard 2, Money Train and more. He also wrote the screenplay for this, but the movie never got made.
